leading the world

Given my current attitude, I think this may be an off-week in terms of interesting content made directly from me. So instead I'll indulge myself in describing something I might have too much curiousity in. That specific topic, this time around at least, is authoritarian, socialist, and/or communist-oriented leaders of the world. I cannot explain to you why I have this fascination, I can only explain in detail the specific facets that get me interested in them.

The primary, relatively modern leader I think of that fits into those above categories is the irreplaceable: Muammar Muhammad Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi.

I find the concept of him as a leader, his history in Libya, and everything else that surrounds him to all be absolutely fascinating. There's so many conflicting facts about his rule, his influence—

Okay, I find it important to say: in terms of my perspective on this sort of political discussion, I genuinely cannot handle it anymore, trying to find objective definitions of whether a character in history was good or bad if they're so divisive. Obviously, leaders like Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, Hirohito etc. are unequivocally terrible people; any possible positive impact they had on their citizens and the world is heavily outweighed by their horrendous crimes against humanity they permitted and carried out during their reign.

But for the case of controversial, grey area sort of figures, I find it useless to try and fit them into boxes of good and bad. Other examples outside of Gaddafi for me would be Josip Broz Tito, Hô Chí Minh, every single post-WWII president of the United State except Ronald Reagan*, and many more.

There just seems to be so much propaganda, disinformation, and random slings against political dissidents that it is useless to attempt any serious analysis of their actions. They are just in that grey area, like a lot of politicians and leaders for me. In essence, the more I read and hear, the more I could devote every waking hour trying to find more pieces to the puzzle to try to make sense of it. And yet, I would still only see the smallest piece, or smallest fraction of that whole geopolitical situation.

Regardless, I'm only three stars away from getting the diamond operation coin for CS:GO, so I think that's all that really matters.

there's an asterisk on ronald reagan's name because he would be in the bad tier, not the grey area tier.
